A Springboro man was struck and killed Monday morning while on foot on northbound Interstate 75 in Miami Twp., near the I-675 exit.

James Lee Hartman, 47, was hit by a semitruck around 9 a.m. when he walked into the right northbound lane, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The truck that hit him was a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Goram Crvenkovic, 28, of Quebec, Canada. Crvenkovic suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to Kettering Health Miamisburg, formerly Sycamore Medical Center.

Hartman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and drug use is not a suspected factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, troopers said.

It is not clear why Hartman was on foot on the interstate, but he may have gotten out of a blue car. Miami Twp. police and troopers investigating the fatality were placing markers near a blue car and the semi truck.
